Already trained as a violinist, pianist
and organist, Stephen began to study harp in 2003, and is currently Principal Harpist for the Bohemian Club
Symphony Orchestra in San Francisco.
"Notturno is a stunning, deeply instrospective piece by Ottorino Respighi,
from his collection of Nocturnes for piano. Here's my own transcription of it, which I play on the harp."
Respighi's Notturno
Organ With his formal training in church music beginning
under Gerre Hancock, Steve started organ study with Duncan Phyfe at the Choate School, and then continued organ and harpsichord
study at Oberlin Conservatory, where he earned a B. Mus. in performance. In the course of his career, he has been able to
play some of the most important organs in the world, including those at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, Saint Paul's Cathedral
in London, and Salisbury Cathedral. Recent recitals include Saint Thomas Church in New York City and Our Lady of the Angels
Cathedral in Los Angeles, and Christ Church, Cincinnati.
As an organist Steve specializes in the performance of
Bach and the late French schools, as well as the art of improvisation.
